After running the Female Film Club for 3 years we kept seeing the same problems with many of our members:
We saw our members struggling with some or all of these problems and we were keen to find a solution as we knew they had stories that need to be told!!
Not only does she hold an MA and PhD in screenwriting, is teaching at top universities in London, she is also a writer, director and script consultant. (and she rises a kickass motor!)
Dr Tracy Mathewson is a writer, director and script consultant whose screenwriting (features and pilots) has consistently earned her finalist and semi-finalist rankings in screenwriting contests and fellowships, including being among the top 15% of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship competition.
She has written, script-edited and directed multiple award winning shorts and has spent the last year working alongside 2-time Oscar Winner Chloé Zhao on her latest feature HAMNET, starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal.
Tracy received her MA in screenwriting over 10 years ago and it was learning screenwriting the hard way on her MA that influenced her own method of teaching screenwriting and developing screenplays today.
Alongside her work as a filmmaker and with the FFC, Tracy also lectures in Fiction Film Production at UCL.
'These are brilliantly crafted and organised courses that are thorough but not too taxing that I couldn’t do it alongside all my other life commitments.
I feel I have come out of it with a fundamental understanding of screenwriting and I have now finished my screenplay and am ready to get it produced.
'Essential for writers! If you need a structure to build your 'house', this is the course for you. I like the fact that they offer the toolkit because we can go independent later on with our film projects. Liza and Nicole is super cheerful and supportive, Tracy is an amazing tutor and classmates, they're not only classmates but a supportive community who want to connect and help each other out :)'
'The Screenwriter's Toolkit and Art Of The Screenplay are the perfect introduction to storytelling for screenwriters – it takes a somewhat daunting genre and makes it both accessible and fun! The courses really boosted my confidence and gave me all the necessary tools to further improve my writing. Highly recommended!'
You don't have to enroll into a £10k per year university in London, leave the house for classes, arrange and pay a baby sitter or miss cuddles with your dog to level up your screenwriting. All our previous students had busy lives and other life commitments, our courses are designed to fit around a busy lifestyle so you don't have to choose.
Online classes are 1,5hour on Mondays and you can join from anywhere you call home and will be joined by a community of likeminded international women.
You'll feel confident and secure in your screenwriting submitting your script to producers.
We noticed that there is such a need for learning the proper rules around screenwriting that the FFC and Dr. Tracy Mathewson made a 3 week course around it. So you'll be guided not only on how to correctly format your screen-story, but also on what makes screenwriting different to playwriting and other creative writing mediums, and how to master the form artfully.
In this online course you'll learn:
